We exist at the intersection of mental health, physical recovery, storytelling, and sustainable adventure. Our work centers community care, access to wellness resources, and culturally relevant healing spaces for those historically excluded from outdoor recreation.

We are building infrastructure for longevity in the outdoors — not just access to adventure, but access to recovery, education, and care.
FOUNDER Story
I named this company after the least “outdoorsy” person I know — my father.
​
It was symbolic of something I couldn’t ignore: how disconnected many in the Black community are from outdoor spaces, not by choice, but by history, access, and culture.
​
In 2021, the same year I launched First Outdoor Company, I experienced a life-changing climbing accident. At the time, I believed recovery would return me to “normal.” But physical therapy didn’t restore full mobility in my ankle. Instead, I developed severe arthritis. A doctor eventually told me the truth: things would never be the same again.
​
What I didn’t expect was how deeply my physical injury would affect my mental health. The sport that once grounded me no longer felt like refuge. I struggled quietly while building community publicly.
In 2022, while navigating depression, I hosted the first Blk Out Fest in Chattanooga. It was the hardest thing I had ever done — and the most healing space I had ever created.

Years later, as I wrestled with performance culture, grades, and the pressure to “climb hard,” I realized something:

The true vision of this company was never just adventure. It was care.
​
When I was injured, I couldn’t find spaces that supported healing when the outdoors no longer felt like medicine. So in 2026, I made a decision:

We would become that space.
A space that encourages healing.
A space that provides resources.
A space that helps adventurers keep adventuring — even when their relationship to the outdoors changes.

This company is my love letter to the outdoors.
To the people who find freedom there.
And to every climber who has ever felt lost in a world of ego and performance.
